Magued Iskander, PhD, P.E., F. ASCE
NYU Tandon School of Engineering
Magued Iskander is Professor and Head of Civil and Urban Engineering at NYU, with over 25 years of experience in foundation design, analysis, and construction, as well as teaching, research, and consulting. His expertise includes instrumentation, field monitoring, and rehabilitation of distressed structures.
Dr. Iskander has authored or edited 14 books and published over 150 papers on foundations, geotechnology, and engineering education. He has led over $12M in research and education grants, including NSF and DTRA-funded projects on soil-structure interaction using transparent soils and recycled polymer piling. He has also co-led NSF efforts to modernize science education in NYC high schools.
A recipient of numerous teaching awards, Dr. Iskander holds a B.Sc. from Alexandria University and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a licensed professional engineer in NY, NJ, and WI.
